Martino Scovacricchi to Showcase Debut Album

November 2013. Classical and jazz saxophonist and composer, Martino Scovacricchi, will be showcasing his debut album entitled Melancolia Feliz at a concert on 28 November 2013 at the Bolivar Hall in London.

As one of the world music emerging artists and winner of Costa Rica Young Soloists competition in 2007, Scovacricchi has appeared as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica and has performed in several international venues including Ronnie Scotts and the South Bank Centre. A sort after composer, Scovacricchi, he has been commissioned to compose music for bassoon by the renowned English bassoonist John Orford and the National Museum of Cinema of Turin.
With no intention of originally recording an album, Scovacricchi, decided to create his debut work when the opportunity to play with 15 brilliant guest musicians and work on more compositions and recordings arose. After a successful Kickstarter campaign to produce the album, Melancolia Feliz, was born.
Promising to be an event to delight classical, jazz and world music fans alike, his concert, to be held at Bolivar Hall, London, will give attendees the opportunity to listen to original compositions from his new album, which takes elements of classical music, jazz conceptions, Irish influences and Latin rhythms, and creates a mood of tranquillity, mediation and joy.
"Martino is the essential definition of a "well-rounded" musician. This is no small thing!  It's not just about his ability to play saxophone, and cello and to compose, all at a very high level. It's about how his mastery of several very disparate and distinct skills has leaded to a unique synthesis...a unique sound. You will hear this in his compositions and you will hear this in his performances. Enjoy!" Dr. Shannon LeClaire, Faculty, Berklee College of Music.
